Mandy has over 20 years’ tennis teaching experience with youth of all ages. Through group clinics or private instruction, she motivates players by incorporating drill games which make learning basic tennis skills fun and memorable.
Students receive positive feedback and helpful strategies to improve all areas of their game, whether it be basic fundamentals or improvement in match play. Mandy strives to make all players under her tutelage extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the game not just serves, groundstrokes, volleys and more, but sportsmanship too!
As a former high school coach of both boys’ and girls’ teams for many years, Mandy sought to grow and develop her players as competitive contenders in a local high school league. One of her boy’s teams won the league championship in 2013 and later went on to eventually win a state title. Mandy was also a former collegiate-level tennis player at Calvin University in Michigan. She was awarded All-MIAA honors in 1999 for both #1 singles and #1 doubles play at Calvin.

Hello Shrewsbury Tennis players!
I’m Helaine Vrana and after taking a year off from teaching, am joining the fantastic staff at Shrewsbury Tennis! I am an Elite USPTA teaching professional and have been teaching tennis for 15 years. I have been awarded USPTA Rookie of the Year, USPTA Regional Pro of the Year, and USPTA New England Pro of the Year. I have been ranked number 1 and 2 in both singles and doubles in New England. I have played on Super A CMITA teams as well as DBH. I no longer compete, but bring a wealth of knowledge about competition and the game of tennis to Shrewsbury. I am looking forward to beginning a few new clinics such as a 6 week Mental Toughness Clinic, an Intermediate Clinic, and a Beginners Clinic. I will also be looking at adding “boot camps” as well as a drop in Stroke of the Week class. I would welcome any feedback on any other classes you’d like to see happen.
My other passions are not in any particular order…the beach, my cat Nolan, gardening. I do own a horse, Skip Away aka Skipper and compete at various horse shows in the Jumper Division. I will be reaching for my phone to show pictures of any and all these interests if asked. I also work part time as Asst. Barn Manager at Love Lane Special Needs Riding Program in Lexington MA. It is incredibly rewarding and an amazing place.
