We aim to develop a foundation built on technical and tactical skills, while creating a supportive, fun and enjoyable environment. We have programs for ages 3 – 18 and all levels of skill; with a wide range of focus points.
Hand-eye coordination
Ball control and consistency
Match play and formulating a game plan
Recreational Clinics
We are, as a group, creating an even better tennis experience here at The Shrewsbury Club. Our clinics will help your child develop self-respect, self-confidence and increased participation in social activities; all while elevating their tennis game.
Competitive Clinics
At the Shrewsbury Club, our goal is to have multiple pathways for players who want to compete and play at a higher level than the recreational players.
Our Competitive Clinics offer more intense lessons twice a week (mandatory) with an optional round-robin.
Monthly payments are for members would are planning to commit to the entire 39 week tennis season (tipically from Sep-June). By commiting to the full season, the payments are broken down monthly into equil payments for the duration of your tennis lessons. EFT is always the lowest rate! Ages 5 and under Tiny Tennis players will be introduced to tennis. Our Tennis Professionals will help them become comfortable with their junior tennis racquet, the tennis court, tennis balls and will start to familiarize them with the basics of the game.
Ages 5-7 Beginner Red is designed for first time players. This class focuses on building physical skills (agility, balance, coordination and speed) while teaching tennis fundamentals.
Ages 5-7 Intermediate Red is designed for beginners or players moving up from Beginner Red. Players show more consistency, placement, overhead serves and learning to keep score.
Ages 7-10 Beginner Orange focuses on building the athletic skills required by the sport while also teaching the fundamentals necessary to serve, rally and score using a rally/game based curriculum. The coaching is focused on developing sending and receiving skills, sound footwork and racquet mechanics.
Ages 7-10 Must have completed at least 2 sessions of Beginner Orange. Players have learned consistency, ball movement and serve techniques. Players have entered match play and know how to keep score.
Ages 10-12 Beginner Green is designed for beginner levers. It is taught using a rally based curriculum and focuses on developing sending and receiving skills, sound footwork, racquet mechanics and incorporating comparable athletic skills developed in other sports. Players learn how to properly position themselves to execute ground strokes and volleys, hit with purpose, serve and ultimately sustain a rally of varying speed and duration.
Ages 12-14 Intermediate Green builds on the mechanics mastered in Beginner Orange, Intermediate Orange and Beginner Green. Specifically, each player learns to develop areas of strength in their game and learns how to use them to their advantage.
All clinics require a minimum of 3 participants to run. If there is not sufficient enrollment, semi-private lessons or private lessons are available.
